The Amazon in Peru
Nothing evokes images of a deep, lush jungle alive with the sounds of birds cawing alongside howling monkeys and the rustle of leaves as the Amazon. The Peruvian part of this great rainforest does not disappoint, and nature lovers should not miss an opportunity to experience this magical world.
Tours into the jungle vary from two days to a week. After traveling by boat down the river, visitors stay in comfortable jungle lodges. Activities include the opportunity to see birds and monkey, go on evening treks to spot nocturnal creatures, and a chance to mingle with indigenous people.
An alternative to lodging in the jungle is the option of living on a well-appointed boat and crusing down the Amazonian river. Boats have air-conditioned cabins with private bathrooms and a knowledgeable naturalist guide. The guide will point out the river creatures and birds passing by, and stops include visits to port towns in neighboring Brazil and Columbia.
